Funerals & Memorials

When someone you love dies and you are called on to arrange a funeral for them it’s very often hard to know where to begin. There’s a lot to think about, a lot to organise, and this is where we can help … guiding you through the process to achieve the fitting, and personal tribute that you want.

We are here for more than just the practicalities. Grief throws up a whole mix of emotions, not all of them, easy to express.   We’re here to support you and care for you at a time when you may feel isolated from other forms of support and help, we are here to accompany you, to be friend and confidante, if needed, and to create a safe space where you can share your feelings and your grief.

Our clergy can conduct funerals in our church buildings, crematorium or at a graveside. We also offer memorial services. Supporting you and honouring the memory of the person who has died is our priority.

We will help you to plan the service and can suggest readings and music where needed. In St. James’s Church we have a high-quality digital audio video system that allows us to play recorded music and show photographs or video. We can help compose a eulogy or tribute to ensure the service reflects your loved one’s character and life.

Interment of Ashes

There are dedicated spaces for the interment of ashes at both Colwall and Coddington churches. In addition, it might be possible to inter ashes in to an existing family grave.

The interment usually takes place after a Sunday service and will often include readings and prayers. Please contact the parish office for more information.

Making plans for your own funeral

Planning your own funeral can put your mind at rest and provide comfort to those you leave behind. It means that your wishes are known, which makes it easier for those arranging your funeral to know what to do.

The clergy can discuss both the content of the service, music, readings and tribute, as well as some of the practicalities.

Please contact the Parish Office on 01684 540330 or email colwallchurch@outlook.com to make an appointment.
